Gluten-free cookies with a personalized stamp – our idea for a mixed coffee table

In our large family, celebrations often include gluten-containing baked goods on the coffee table. To ensure that our daughter – and anyone else avoiding gluten – can easily recognize their cookies, we came up with a special idea.

We had often seen cookies with stamped designs and wondered if they really worked well. So, we thought: Why not have our own logo made as a cookie stamp? This way, we could give our butter cookies a personal touch while also creating a clear gluten-free label. Our daughter can't read yet, but she instantly recognizes the gluten-free symbol – no matter how small it is. Cookies with this sign would be perfect for a mixed coffee table!

Our recipe for stamped butter cookies

Effort: 15 minutes prep time • 1 hour chilling in the fridge

Ingredients for approx. 15 large cookies:

  • 250g gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 100g sugar
  • 50g vanilla sugar
  • Some grated orange zest
  • 125g butter
  • 1 egg

After chilling the dough in the fridge, dust your work surface with flour. Once you've cut out and stamped the cookies, carefully transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 180°C (fan oven) for about 10 minutes.

We used a simple butter cookie recipe and skipped the traditional sugar icing. Instead, we stamped the design directly onto the cookie. It wasn’t easy, but for our daughter, it was an absolute highlight! It was very important to her that these cookies were “gluty-free” – and, of course, the most delicious of all.

Tip:

  • Stamping cookies takes a bit of practice. To prevent the dough from sticking too much and to keep the text and symbols clearly visible, dust the stamp with a little potato starch before use. A small challenge – but totally worth it for our daughter’s joy!
